Description
Throughout history, New Mexicans have been acutely aware of the importance of water, recognizing its cultural, agricultural, economic, and recreational value. In recent years, hydrological changes have made it clear that we can no longer rely on snowpack, runoff, and aquifer recharge, and that both surface water and groundwater supplies are at risk. Join Jason Casuga, Chief Engineer and Chief Executive Officer of the Middle Rio Grande Conservancy District (MRGCD), and Lorna M. Wiggins, its General Counsel, for a discussion on water scarcity, how the MRGCD is addressing this challenge, and what the future may hold.
Jason Casuga is the Chief Engineer and CEO for MRGCD. A professional engineer with a BS in Civil Engineering from NMSU, Casuga has spent the last 12 years working within the Middle Rio Grande Valley. Lorna Wiggins is with the law firm, Wiggins, Williams & Wiggins, PC. She began practicing law in New Mexico in 1983, following a judicial clerkship, and specializes in the areas of labor and employment law. Wiggins is chair of the Oasis Albuquerque Board of Directors.
