Description

This presentation examines key US nuclear weapon tests in chronological order, focusing on those that represent major technological advances in weapon design. We also explore where these tests took place, testbed configurations, and briefly highlight the first nuclear weapon tests conducted by other nations.

Joel Karasik has over 30 years of applied radiation safety work with an emphasis on nuclear weapon effects. Between 1985 and 1992, Karasik participated in over 65 nuclear weapon tests at the Nevada Test Site. He is currently the senior health physics technical instructor at the Defense Nuclear Weapons School at Kirtland Air Force Base.
