Description
Augustine of Hippo was born in 354 C.E. and died in 430. The son of a pagan father and a devout Christian mother, Augustine was educated in Carthage, Milan, and Rome. After a dramatic conversion to Christianity, he returned to Hippo, where he became an influential bishop. His writings, especially his autobiography The Confessions, became a model for later Christian autobiographies. This lecture explores Augustine’s life story and examines The Confessions, written between 397 and 400 C.E.
Frank Yates is the Interim Pastor at Rio Rancho Presbyterian Church. He currently teaches at UNM Continuing Ed and St. Norbert College. He is a graduate of Abilene Christian University and UT Austin and has graduate degrees from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary.
