Stroll through the Rio Grande Nature Center’s Native Plants Garden with Ron Friederich, as he identifies and discusses the plants and trees. Discover the special beauty of the native plants as we walk the 1.5-acre garden area, containing more than 200 individually labelled plants that will help you appreciate the Bosque. Time permitting, we’ll visit the interesting Visitor Center exhibits. Note: There is a $3 entrance/parking fee. A broad-brimmed hat, water bottle, and sunglasses are advised. Limited enrollment.

Ron Friederich, a retired physician, has given various tours for Oasis of the BioPark and the UNM Campus trees. He authored a photo guidebook of the Botanic Garden for the BioPark docents. In 1991, he received the Martin Luther King Human Rights Award for establishing the first Eye Clinic at Healthcare for the Homeless, where he volunteered for 26 years.
