Every autumn, sandhill cranes migrate back to the areas along the Rio Grande, filling the air with their loose V’s and circles as they look for prime landing fields. Standing four to five feet high, with a wingspread of seven feet, these stately red-capped birds are the delight of nature lovers. Take a leisurely walk of about 1.5 miles to view them. The walk is on flat ground that, although slightly rough in places, can be navigated by wide-tired wheelchairs. No restrooms available. Limited enrollment.
