Description
We hear the term “native plants” more and more often, in personal conversation as well as from government agencies, wildlife organizations and civic groups. But what are native plants and how are they different from weeds? Going light on jargon and incorporating beautiful photos, this session aims to clear up misconceptions and open up a subject that goes well beyond aesthetics and landscaping and has impacts on our history, our culture and our future.
Tom Stewart, a New Mexican since his teen years, studied life sciences at UNM and the University of Vermont and worked as an environmental scientist at Sandia National Laboratories. After retiring, he became the president of the Native Plant Society of New Mexico Albuquerque Chapter.
