Emile Nakhleh provides an in-depth analysis of current political realities in the Middle East that goes beyond the headlines to address the underlying religious and secular ideologies that have underpinned the creation of the modern nation-state system in the region. Nakhleh is an expert in the field and provides political, social, economic, and global insights in an engaging and thoughtful way. This session is presented in cooperation with the World Affairs Council of Albuquerque.
Dr. Emile Nakhleh was a senior intelligence service officer and a founding director of the Political Islam Strategic Analysis Program at the Central Intelligence Agency. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, and a founding director of the Global and National Security Policy Institute at the University of New Mexico. He has written extensively on Middle East politics, political Islam, radical Sunni ideologies, and terrorism. He is also the former president of the World Affairs Council of Albuquerque.
