Kuaua, a once populous pueblo located near the town of Bernalillo, New Mexico, has provided incredible insight into the developments in the Middle Rio Grande Valley, both before and after European contact. Joseph Tackes has been an interpretive ranger with New Mexico Historic Sites for three years. He started at Los Luceros in 2022 and now works at Coronado Historic Site at Kuaua Pueblo in Bernalillo. An avid history lover, Tackes enjoys sharing this passion with visitors via guided tours. Prior to coming to New Mexico, he spent six years abroad as an ESL instructor in Spain, Costa Rica, Honduras, and Peru.
