Description

How do we interpret the large, diverse text that is Scripture? This lecture presents the basics of the exegetical method used by many interpreters of the Bible. We examine the “historical-critical method” that is widely practiced and consider some of its strengths and weaknesses. This lecture follows up on Frank Yate’s previous talk, “The Peaks and Valleys of Scripture”, but you do not need to have heard it to benefit from this one.

Frank Yates is the Interim Pastor at Rio Rancho Presbyterian Church. He currently teaches at UNM Continuing Ed and St. Norbert College. He is a graduate of Abilene Christian University and UT Austin and has graduate degrees from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary.
