Reflecting a broad mission that encompasses the entire history of humankind, the Maxwell Museum’s collections are worldwide in scope, with extensive holdings from throughout North, South, and Central America. With its primary emphasis on the American Southwest, the Maxwell is world-renowned for its holdings from this region. Curator of Archaeology Kari Schleher and Senior Collections Manager of Archaeology Karen Price lead this tour of the Museum’s vast archaeological collection. Participants will be standing during the entire two-hour behind the scenes adventure. Limited enrollment.
Curator of Archaeology, Kari Schleher, received her PhD from UNM and specializes in archaeological ceramics from the US Southwest. Karen Price received her MA in artefact studies from University College London and her BA in anthropology and Spanish from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia. She was curator of Archaeological Collections at Mount Vernon Ladies’ Association, Mount Vernon, Virginia before she came to the Maxwell.
