Description

Dave Brubeck was an incredibly influential pianist, band leader, and composer in the cool jazz movement. Best known for introducing uncommon meters into jazz, Brubeck’s sound was characterized by haunting melodies, complex rhythmic improvisation, and challenging technical passages. In this presentation, Robert Lah and Linda Davidson discuss Brubeck’s approach and perform several of his compositions. 

Robert Lah is a lifelong jazz pianist and educator. He taught music at levels K-college, including high school and university jazz ensembles. He has worked with jazz combos, big bands, dance bands, and symphonies. He is an experienced arranger and composer, and performs locally with a variety of jazz groups. Linda Davidson is a well-known Albuquerque jazz flutist who leads Jazz To Go.
