New Mexico has always had wildfires, but they have become more intense and destructive in recent years. Jennifer Bohnhoff explores the causes of wildfires, their history from prehistory to recent catastrophic fires, and how forest management policies have changed in the last 150 years. Bohnhoff is the author of Summer of the Bombers, a novel based on the Cerro Grande fire that ravaged Los Alamos in 2000.
Jennifer Bohnhoff taught English and History at the middle school and high school levels in public schools in Albuquerque and Edgewood. She retired in 2021 and now writes award-winning historical and contemporary fiction for middle school through adult readers. Bohnhoff is a native New Mexican and has a BA from UNM and an MA from NMSU.
