Description

People from Ireland, Scotland and Wales experienced forced and voluntary emigration to parts of the British Empire. Since 1800, millions of Celts left their homelands. Many were forced out by political and religious oppression. Others fled poverty, famine, and crimes under British rule. How did these Celts survive and prosper?

Maya Sutton, PhD, is a dual citizen of the Republic of Ireland and the US who has taught courses in Celtic mythology and history at UNM for ten years. Her Celtic courses emphasize her personal experience with each area, including access to authors, archives, and adventures. Dr. Sutton is a living part of the Celtic Diaspora.
