Description

Celebrate the centennial of Route 66 with a hike to a little-known remnant of the Mother Road. This route explores an early section of the historic highway, along with traces of the area’s transportation history, including an old railroad line that’s more notable for its history than its scenery. For those interested in Route 66 history and willing to tackle a challenging trail, this hike offers a rare opportunity to experience a surviving piece of America’s most famous highway. This is a steep and strenuous hike of about 1 ½ miles uphill. Wear a hat, layers, and comfortable shoes; bring water. Limited enrollment.
