Description
Rene Girard’s theological and philosophical work reframes the notion of the atonement and asks the fundamental question of whether or not there must be scapegoats in society as a means of corporate relief and release. This course examines several tenets of Girard’s work, such as mimetic theory, scapegoating, and shared violence, as a lens for re-reading the crucifixion narrative of Jesus.
Scott Sharp serves as the Executive Director of Albuquerque Oasis. Sharp holds degrees in education and theology and developed an interest in the works of Rene Girard in the early 2000’s.
