Description

In 1215, English barons forced King John to sign a charter that limited his royal authority. They did so because John had ignored the political and legal norms that governed the kingdom. That charter—Magna Carta—codified the rights of English subjects and prohibited the king from infringing on those rights. This presentation focuses on the events that led to the drafting of Magna Carta and the charter’s legacy.
