Considered to be one of the toughest single-day athletic challenges, an Ironman distance triathlon consists of a 2.4-mile swim, a 112-mile bike leg, and a 26.2-mile run. All of this must be completed in under 17 hours. Hear the story of one person’s journey of preparing for an Ironman, competing in the race, and the takeaways from the experience. Scott Sharp is the executive director of Albuquerque Oasis. A life-long cyclist, Sharp was inspired to compete in the Ironman following a series of injuries and illnesses in his early 40’s. In addition to his administrative roles at Oasis, he loves to teach and does so several times a term.
