One of the goals of contemporary physics is discovery of new particles, the fundamental building blocks of nature. This lecture indicates why that’s essential to progress in understanding how the Universe works.

Sally Seidel received her PhD in experimental particle physics at the University of Michigan and has held the position of Professor of Physics at UNM since 1991. Her team conducts research at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN in pursuit of physics “beyond the Standard Model” and develops new particle detection technologies for application to future experiments.
