Laurel Ladwig is a geographer who studies our relationship with all species of life on Earth. She runs the New Mexico Backyard Refuge Program for Ciudad Soil & Water Conservation District and the Friends of Valle de Oro National Wildlife Refuge. She is also on the advisory board for the Bernalillo County Open Space Master Naturalists, the associate director for the R.H. Mallory Center for Community Geography, and co-coordinates Albuquerque’s participation in the worldwide City Nature Challenge.
