One hundred-foot ocean waves and tiny organisms that make us sick were all dismissed as laughable foolishness by the scientific community for years. Entire continents move? Ridiculous. Rocks can fall from the sky? Of course not. Many “scientific certainties” were challenged by seemingly outlandish propositions that upended established beliefs. This lecture discusses some conspicuous examples and explores how they came to be regarded as truth.
David Crossley has degrees in both electrical and mechanical engineering; he retired from a 40-year career in the aerospace arena. He taught electromagnetics at New Mexico State University and performed electronic warfare operations in five war zones with the Air Force out of Kirtland Air Force Base.
