Description
CANCELLED The recent NASA Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART) mission illustrates one method of deflecting an asteroid. Burying then detonating a powerful nuclear weapon on an asteroid is another way to lessen asteroid impact. But neither would save a continent, let alone an extinction-level event. Jennison presents an alternative, practical option, which is possible today.
Dwight Jennison received his PhD in theoretical physics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. His 30-year career at Sandia National Labs involved basic research in theoretical physics. Jennison has been a docent at the NM Museum of Natural History and Science for 15 years and is the current president of the museum’s volunteer association.
