Description
President William Jefferson Clinton worked side by side with Newt Gingrich and other paleo-conservatives through the mid-1990s to undo sixty-years of liberal American politics. From the crime bill to the deregulation of telecommunications, Clinton’s faith in the “free market” and commitment to neoliberalism undid more than half a century of policies designed to benefit ordinary Americans. George Ovitt makes the case that Clinton, more than Reagan, was the architect of our current woes.
George Ovitt has been teaching at Albuquerque Academy since 2000. Before that, he taught at Sidwell Friends School and Drexel University. He is the author of eight books, the most recent a collection of short essays on literature and politics, Trotsky’s Sink, written with his colleague, Peter Nash.
