Description

Many of us were raised to be “seen and not heard,” making self-advocacy feel intimidating. What then is advocacy, and how can it make a difference in everyday life? Through guided participation, lecture, and hands-on exercises, this interactive session explores practical tools and resources to help you speak up with confidence—for yourself and others—in medical, financial, and social justice situations where your voice truly matters. Gain skills to communicate clearly, ask questions, navigate challenging conversations, and advocate effectively.

Charna Lefton has spent her career helping people find their voice. Her advocacy experience spans government, non-profits, and international service, including leadership roles with the US Fish & Wildlife Service, Peace Corps, and Indivisible 505. A trained mediator and facilitator, she brings practical insight from supporting individuals in healthcare, financial, and government systems, and from resolving conflicts in both professional and everyday settings.
