Description
Explore Route 66 through stories, memories, and local lore! Author Jill Schneider shares her experience with an aging traveling salesman as he recalled the people and places he encountered along the Mother Road in the 1940s. Drawing on conversations and recollections, Schneider brings a version of Route 66 to life that was shaped by those who lived it. While it may not be fact-checked history, it is an adventurous look at the legends, personalities, and enduring spirit of one of America’s most iconic roads.
A native New Mexican, Jill Schneider has been a wanderer and traveler all of her life, always wanting to know what it’s like to live in places she has never seen. She was informally educated on the dirt roads of NM and more formally is a graduate of UNM. Poet, writer, silversmith, and weaver, she is the author of Route 66 Across New Mexico: A Wanderer’s Guide.
