Richard Wagner was one of the most influential of all composers, creating works of immense power, including The Ring Cycle.  Although some find his works long and boring, his music is often surprisingly approachable.  This lecture offers an engaging introduction to Wagner’s fascinating life and career, accompanied by excerpts from his work. Dan Sherman, PhD, has presented numerous talks on concert music, film and film music, opera, and musical theatre to many groups, including Oasis.  He has long loved opera, especially the operas of Wagner. Sherman has given talks on him to several Wagner societies, including the Wagner Society of Washington, of which he is a current board member.
